I grew up in Enterprise where I played basketball and baseball and ran cross country and track. I went to Southern Utah University where I walked on and played one year of baseball. I coached basketball and baseball at Enterprise High School while there doing my student teaching. I got my first teaching job at Snow Canyon High School and am in my 18th year teaching and coaching here at Snow Canyon. I have coached baseball the past 17 years and been a part of 4 state championships. I was an assistant basketball coach under Coach James Brown for 15 years winning a state title in 2002 and spent the last two years coaching in the girl’s program. I am excited to be back coaching boys basketball and to work with Coach Meacham.
My family and I moved from Salt Lake City to St George 11 years ago in 2007. I work in the Information Technology Industry doing sales for the Tonaquint Data Center. I have been coaching at Snow Canyon High School for the past 3 years. 2 years as Varsity Assistant under coach Sorensen and this year as Freshman Coach. I am excited to be working with Coach Meacham and staff to help develop these young men and teach them the game of basketball. I played at Brighton High School, where we won a State Title in 1996. I then went on to play at Ricks College from 2000-02, and at Westminster College from 2002-04 where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management.
I was born and raised in Provo, UT where I attended Timpview High School and enjoyed playing basketball, soccer and running track. I served an LDS mission in Anaheim, California and got to see the Disneyland fireworks on a nightly basis. After my mission, I attended Brigham Young University and graduated with a degree in Health Science. Competing and playing sports are two things I've enjoyed throughout my life and so there was always a desire to be involved in coaching. I joined the Timpview basketball staff and coached the men's sophomore basketball team for a few years. Since catching the coaching bug, I have been involved with youth sports the past fifteen years. Being involved with the youth and seeing the lessons kids can learn (teamwork, determination, focus, consistency, dedication) has been a wonderful experience. In 2009, our family moved to Santa Clara where we fell in love with the town and community. I immediately began coaching in Santa Clara, and helped form many of our area's youth programs. I was excited to join the Snow Canyon Basketball staff in 2016.
I have been teaching and coaching here at Snow Canyon High School for 18 years. I began coaching as an assistant in both the girls and boys soccer programs and with the girls’ basketball team. After 4 years in the girls’ basketball program, I moved to the boy’s side as an assistant under Coach James Brown coaching the sophomores. I worked with Coach Brown for 12 years before he retired and the coaching staff was dissolved for a new group. Now I am back in the boys program and so excited to be working with coach Meacham. I took the head coaching job with the girls’ soccer team in 2006. During my tenure with the girls’ soccer program, our team has won 6 region titles and 2 state championships, with our most recent title coming this year. I love the opportunity coaching gives me to get to know my students better and be involved in their lives outside of the classroom. I enjoy the life lessons athletics teaches our young men and woman and hope that my athletes get more than just an opportunity to compete as they participate on my teams. Coaching has made me a better person, father, husband and teacher and I love the kids I have coached over the years.
I am excited to begin my first year as a coach in a program with such rich basketball tradition as Snow Canyon High School. I recently returned home from a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Paraguay. This will be my 16th year here in the Snow Canyon Basketball program. My dad was part of Coach Brown’s staff for 15 years and during that time I was able to be a part of 8 Region Championships and 1 State Championship as I sat next to the players on the bench. I am a 3 sport (Football, Basketball, Baseball), 3 Year Varsity Letterman for Snow Canyon High School. In addition, I am a 3 Sport Academic All-State Recipient. My passion is Basketball but I love all sports. I am excited to give back to the program that I have been a part since I was 3 years old. It will be an exciting year and I am excited to represent the GREEN and GOLD and all that comes with it.
